+ Perhaps Hyth and Hades first meet while Hades is transformed - which is why Hyth always teases/compliments him about it. Alternatively: how DID they meet?

+ Perhaps Hyth actually CAN transform, but his transformation is so terrifying that ultimately he chooses not to do so (and goes so far as to pretend he can't). Hades, meanwhile, is the only person not frightened of him in that form.

+ Reuniting with loved ones in the aetherial sea - not exactly a redemption arc, but at least a chance at hurt/comfort and accountability; Emet-Selch would do what he did all over again, if he had a chance at success.

+ AU where Emet-Selch agrees to give life among normal humans another chance with Hyth (and/or Azem) at his side.

+ Just like everyone else, I'm also garbage for Ascian!Hyth AU. (Or: AU where Hyth DOES accept the seat of Emet-Selch. How does this change their dynamic?)
